I’ve been working to improving design criteria within the care and retirement sector since independent research led me to volunteer in a care home management committee for several years in London, England. To effect change, you need to understand why it is, as it is.

Lori has been Director of Park Grove Design since 1993 and was recipient of the 2012 BIID Award of Merit for outstanding achievement in the field of Interior Design. She’s a Past President of the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) and a member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). She also had the opportunity to serve on the Projects Panel of Construction Industry Council (CIC) which advises the UK government on issues related to the built environment, and is currently on the British Standards Committee for flammability performance for domestic furniture in hope of minimising toxic chemicals in the environment.

Lori’s first career was in national broadcasting in the United States where she voiced the twice daily ‘Rock Today’ news for syndicated radio, several syndicated long-format specials, and produced and directed the Grammy Awards© for the international radio market. British-influenced understatement leads her to say 2020 was a challenging year for everyone. She began thinking about the future and what part she might play in effecting positive change in a post-Covid world; she decided to combine her original and current careers. As a result, the ThirdAge.Design podcast and website launched in January 2021 to provide a unique global hub for sharing information to improve senior environments.

She says, “It’s essential and, I’ve decided, why I’m here.”
